The Days That Were…

So, it’s been about 10 days since I last posted. I’ve been busy as a bee and I’m now sitting and wondering how fast those 10 days passed. Let me see what I can remember as far as my planner was concerned…

January 15
It was D-Day for the 2 American kiddos. They had their recital concert and as usual I was their PA. That day started out really bad because Mom and I had another fight. She wanted us to go to my aunt in Bulacan for lunch but she knew very well that the call time was 1pm. I don’t know if she was expecting me to ride a private jet or helicopter to get there on time but it was just not possible. As usual, it ruined my day and I was so grumpy. The 2 American kiddos also gave me a taste of their bratty selves and I was fuming so mad. The day wasn’t really good for me but I had to flash that smile as soon as we got to the concert venue. I didn’t want anyone to notice that I was having my own dose of a not-so-good day.

The concert turned out well and most of them were good. Their concert was by far the best one I’ve seen from the branch. Coach Rya was great! She deserves a 2-thumbs up!

January 16-20
Most of my days were spent scrapping because of the influx of kit assignments from Brenda. I signed up for them but wasn’t expecting that it would be sent out just a couple of days apart. It’s not that I’m complaining, in fact, I welcome them; I guess just a bit surprised. I was able to submit half of my kit assignments already and I’m getting ready to submit the others as well.

The dinner with my aunt and uncle was cancelled. Papa decided to just spend the money on potluck food for Saturday’s reunion.

Suzanne told me that her husband, Wes, is coming over to Manila this weekend for work. Our meeting was scheduled for Saturday at Starbucks Walter Mart. Oh boy was I excited when I heard the news!

I got a text message from Dhong and he told me that they’re back in Manila. His father’s home for a vacation and they spent a couple of weeks in their hometown and went for some sightseeing. But they went back Friday to Pangasinan because his grandmother had a heart attack. I haven’t heard from him since Thursday. I just hope everything’s well with him.

We brought Basti to his pedia on Friday because he was sick since Monday. He told me that his throat hurts. MH said that he had something on his tonsils. It was confirmed by his pedia. He was given some antibiotics to cure the infection. However, on our way back to the office, I remembered that both MH and I are allergic to amoxicillin. I had to decide not to give it to Basti until confirmed by the pediatrician. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get hold of her (must be busy or somethin’).

Friday night was spent having dinner at the newly-opened Icebergs at Harbour Square. As always, food was great and I was so starved that I ate a lot. LOL! I shared a strawberry parfait with Papa and MH had a super halo-halo all for himself. Basti craved so much for ice cream and although I know that he shouldn’t eat it, I made him eat a little. Okay, that was bad of me to do but he hasn’t been eating the past couple of days and that was the first time MH saw him eat again. I guess the cure wasn’t really the antibiotics. He just wanted to see Mommy and got better *winks*

Traffic on the way home was sooooooooo terrible! What usually takes 15-20 minutes from the Pasay office to the house took us an hour. Papa was the one who drove because I was very sleepy (I slept only for about 2 hours the night before). I had a power nap during the whole time. It was a tiring day for all of us.

I had submit some more kit assignments. I have this photo of my father’s siblings and did a 3rd layout on it using Barbie Chewning’s kit. I thought it best to do that as a gift for my aunt. I printed it out and tagged it for framing the next day before going to the reunion.

January 21
I had an early start of the day because my meeting with Wes was at 1pm. But as usual, I was late. I did inform that I’ll be late, though. Something came up here at home and I had to deal with it. Good thing I was just late for a couple of minutes.

I was already with Kim and Nikki and went to Walter Mart to buy a frame for the picture and to meet Wes. I bought the frame from Picture City and had it gift wrapped at Wrap It Up then we went to Starbucks. I was waiting in line for my order when Wes and his friend, Roy, walked past by me. I recognized Wes right away because I was already familiar with him because of a photo that Suzanne sent me a couple of weeks back. Suzanne’s so sweet to have sent some goodies for me (Love ya Sis!!! Thanks so much!). I also met Wes’ friend, Roy. We talked for about an hour about work and other stuff. It’s always great to meet new people. 🙂 I wanted to have a longer conversation but we really needed to go since we have to meet up with Papa by 3pm.

It only took us about 15 minutes to get to the school. MH came a couple of minutes after we came in. Papa was still administering his exam to his class. Well, looks like they had a hard time answering the questions! LOL!

Anyway, we left school at around 3:30 then went to Aling Nene’s to buy lechon Cebu and special BBQ (my favorite from there) to bring to the reunion. We arrived in QC at around 5pm. My aunt was so surprised to see how big I’ve grown! LOL! We presented her with the gift and Papa told her to open it right away. She was in tears when she saw the gift – the framed photo that I made from the night before. Papa told her that I personally made the photo. She told me that she really appreciated it and was crying. Awwww! Although we’re not really that close, I have to admit that I felt so mushy and seeing the tears made me all sentimental and stuff. But that was just for a couple of minutes.

We prayed together for the food to be blessed then it was chow time for everyone. We had lechon Cebu, pancit, BBQ, paksiw na laman loob (a very popular dish in Lucban, Quezon), fried chicken, fruit salad, puto and a lot more. I was starving when we got there so I digged in. After about an hour I started taking pictures and I was able to finish a roll of film right away. I enjoyed the “photo shoot” and everyone was game. Another roll was done in a couple of minutes. It’s really wonderful to have family members gather together after the longest time. It would be great if we could have another one of these soon.

January 22
It’s just quiet time at home and rest was well-deserved. I am currently working on several albums for Valentine’s Day. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get them completed on time since some of them has to be shipped out of the Philippines.

I am at the end of deciding on something very important this week. I hope I’ll be able to make a right decision that will make everything better.

Here’s to another week full of whatever!

I’m sure most of us have already gone back to our individual normal lives after the hustle and bustle of the Christmas holidays. I have and it was back to work for me. I had kit assignments that I turned in late because of some computer problems and a busted DSL connection. But now I’m all caught up and getting ready to receive some more plus my DSL’s hyper as ever! I am currently creating layouts for the several challenges I wanted to participate in and so far I’m getting there. Although I still have a lot more things to do, I think I’m better off right now as compared to last year when it comes to organizing stuff and completing things to do. I deserve a little treat and I’m gonna do that later.

I’ve also been busy since going back to being a part-time PA (Pretty Alalay!LOL!) to the 2 American kiddos who are going to have their recital concert on Sunday. Their rehearsals have been taking a big chunk off of my time but it’s okay.

It’s great to hear from some of my blogging friends again. I did miss those comments! Thanks for spending time in here again.

Pinoy Ako
I have been laughing at myself for being the ignoramus that I am with regard to the things around me for the past couple of months. It was last week when I finally heard the full version of the Pinoy Big Brother theme song, Pinoy Ako. It will be the opening song for the recital concert and I have to admit that I got a lot of weird faces and reactions when I told the coach that we don’t know the song and we’re not familiar with it. With the Americans it would be understandable, but with me, they couldn’t believe it! Can I help it if I don’t watch TV that much and if even if I do, I tune in to Channel 7 instead of Channel 2? Good grief!

I had to learn the song because I’m also part-time coach when the kids get home and practice for their numbers. They have to sing it live on Sunday so they have to learn the words right away. Papa gave them a crash course by just letting them listen to the words while he read it to them. They have picked it up and we still laugh at their mistakes. It’s fun hearing them say words they aren’t familiar with. I think they have a good attitude towards the whole thing. It’s really a nice thing for them to do at their mistakes. At least it’s acceptable.

Pinoy Big Brother didn’t appeal to me at all. I remember that it was a couple of weeks before the final night when I got to watch an episode out of curiosity and lack of appealing programs to watch. The hot guy, Uma, had a punishment and he placed tape on his mouth for being a mouthful of invectives personified since Day 1. He’s hot but I think he has some attitude problems to deal with. That was also the very first time I saw Cass – she appealed to me as a girl you will see strutting in Malate having fun and drinking like there’s no tomorrow. I fell asleep while watching and that became the first and the last time I got to watch a regular episode. I saw like 10 minutes of the final night where Nene was proclaimed the Pinoy Big Brother but I don’t have the slightest idea why she won.

I’ve heard a lot of not-so-good things about that program and even got an e-mail about the anomalies involved in that program. The e-mail didn’t influence me even one tiny bit to watch the program and be a fan. I was more like disgusted about it. And then I saw some nude photos in my folder saved by my brother from his e-mail. I confronted him about it and then he said that those were some nude photos from another girl who got booted out of the Pinoy Big Brother house. I can’t even recall the name! All I remember is her face smiling while she opened up herself and had the camera take photos of her mildly bushy private part and her white butt! Oh geez! One friend even mentioned that one girl got caught getting jiggy under the sheets with one housemate in the 24-hour broadcast at Skycable. Dunno how true but if it is then was that really what Pinoy Big Brother was all about?

Oh well, going back. I guess, if there’s one good thing that came out of Pinoy Big Brother, it would be the song that everyone’s been singing around for quite some time now. I heard that it was also played during the last SEA Games that we hosted. The song has a very catchy tune and very impressive lyrics. And this didn’t make me wonder why even toddlers can sing it. Another thing that surprised me about the song was that it has its own dance steps and I had to learn it too so that the kiddos can practice here at home. I have to admit that I was also bitten by the Pinoy Ako bug – not by my own choice but because I had to. It was a bite that wasn’t really very bad though. I won’t be caught dancing that though – not even in my wildest dreams! It’s enough that I know and I’m now educated about it. I think it’s better that it stay that way! LOL!

Being a FlyBaby
Being a FlyBaby has been helping me improve the way I’m handling my household right now. I’m doing it in baby steps and the site has been such a great companion in trying to re-organize the cluttered household that we have. I have been constantly reminding myself to go and shine our kitchen sink all the time especially before going to bed. It has rubbed into me and I have even told my 12-year old sister about it since we take turns in keeping the house “clean.” It’s really nice to look at a shiny sink in the morning and cleaning it up after every meal has been a breeze for both of us.

I usually take a morning bath when I wake up in the morning so that I’ll start out the day fresh and clean; but I just wear my regular house clothes of shirt and shorts and slippers. The FlyLady said that we have to get dressed to lace up shoes and that would include cleaning our face and doing our hair. This was a little tweak to my normal routine-I never wore lace shoes at home because I prefer wearing slip-ons or sandals. But FlyLady’s tip has drastically improved the way I’ve been doing things around the house. I actually feel more comfortable and it makes me want to do more. I don’t know if it’s psychological or something but I have to say that I’m always up to my toes now than before.

I have decided to make my Starbucks planner into my own Control Journal (at least for the meantime). Although I still have to work on a lot of things like building my own full routines, it’s really nice that the FlyLady made baby steps for me to work on getting there. I just love this lady! I am very bad at routines (and I badly need it to help me declutter and organize) and I’m just so blessed that this lady’s teaching me to organize big time!

Gotta Pixel’s Gotta Be Me Featured Scrapper Chat
Gotta Pixel held a chat today in my honor for being their featured scrapper for the month of January. It was 10PM EST Wednesday and it was 11AM Thursday here. Oh boy did they grill me with their questions. No one dared to ask embarrassing ones although I told them that they’re free to ask ’em. I haven’t participated in crops and chats for quite some time now and it was really a good break for me after scrapping my heart out. I spoke with a lot of cool people and it made me realize how beautiful that community is. I really felt very special. 🙂 Thanks Gotta Pixel!

Christmas Photos
Last night I got to see the Christmas photos of my best friend, Pam and her family. I was teary-eyed while looking at the pictures because it made me miss them all the more. Although I still love how we celebrate Christmas here in the Philippines, Pam and her family is my 2nd family and being away from them for a long time has been really sad. Hopefully, things will pick up for me this year and I’ll be able to go back there before the year ends and maybe, just maybe, spend Christmas there again with them.

Of Barney, King Kong and Garfield
Basti’s so into these 3 characters nowadays. I love how he pouts when we tell him to flash his King Kong smile. He calls every orange-colored cat he sees as Garfield and sings and dances to the song in that recent Garfield movie (that I personally love too!). Papa gave him a Barney stuffed doll for Christmas and he turns it into his horse every so often. He watches Barney DVDs for breakfast, lunch, dinner and before going to bed. Even the adults in the office are caught humming a Barney tune or two every so often. This little guy of mine has turned a once quiet household into a crazy one and the transformation’s just awesome! LOL! See how a little kid can do wonders?

I have a couple of layouts posted at my scrapblog and I hope you can take the time out to take a peek in there 🙂

Now, I gotta get going and clean up some things before we go to the rehearsal. I’m outta here for now! See ya!

Decluttered Bloglist

Whew! I just finished cleaning up my list of blogs to read and I had deleted some links that were either dead or haven’t been updated for more than 2 years. I guess that’s safe to say that he/she isn’t blogging anymore or has found a new place in the blogging world and I don’t know about it.

I have been reading bits and pieces too from the different blogs and have been posting comments. Ahhhh, I truly miss blogging and peeking into other people’s lives (read:chismosa) and I’m sure it’s not gonna change no matter how engrossed I am in digiscrapping.

Great blogs everyone! Thanks for sharing your life with us 🙂

And now it’s time to prepare and eat lunch!

I’m Snuffleupagus

I got interested in this test that Cess took and posted in her blog. The results were pretty accurate. Take note: I’m even as big as Snuffleupagus! LOL!

You scored 62% Organization, 58% abstract, and 64% extroverted!
This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are somewhat organized, both concrete and abstract, and both introverted and extroverted.

I bet you didn’t think you were Snuffleupagus. Let’s find out why.

You are both somewhat organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren’t totally obsessed with neatness though. Alloyius Snuffleupagus (and all Snuffleupagus’) is not sloppy by nature, but he moves so incredibly slowly that it is impossible for him to be totally organized.

You both are about equally concrete and abstract thinkers. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren’t afraid to explore your dreams and desires… within limits of course. Snuffy generally has very basic interests, but he explores his abstract sensitive side when he plays his snuffleflute.

You both are somewhat introverted. Originally Snuffleupagus was very shy and was only Big Bird’s invisible friend. However as he has aged he has started to build new friendships with new characters. Like Snuffy, you probably like to have some time to yourself. However, you do appreciate spending time with your friends, and you aren’t scared of social situations.

The other possible characters are

Oscar the Grouch

Big Bird

Cookie Monster

Kermit the Frog

The Count

Guy Smiley

If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback! Also if you want to tell me your favorite Sesame Street character, I can total them up and post them here. Perhaps your choice will win!

Another weekend

Another busy weekend ahead for me…

Nikki and Kim started having their rehearsals for the recital concert last Thursday. The 6-8pm schedule really sucks but I can’t do anything about it. There’ll be another one tonight and tomorrow will be a long day because they’re gonna have pictorials in the morning and then rehearsals at 6pm again. Being the “alalay” that I am to them, I have to make sure that they’re there and prepared for their numbers. I have to admit that I have a hard time dealing with American kids – most of the time they get into my nerves! Grrrrr!

My aunt (Papa’s sister) and her husband flew in from the US this morning. They’re here to attend my uncle’s high school reunion and for a very short vacation. We were supposed to have dinner tonight but we postponed it for Wednesday.

I finished a couple of kit assignments today and hopefully I’ll have the strength and inspiration to scrap the remaining kits that I have. It sucks to realize that your computer problems are always not too far behind when you are in a hurry to finish up something. *bummer*

I better install Photoshop in the laptop so I can bring it along with me wherever I go. I just hate it when I have to wait for hours doing nothing while waiting for rehearsals to finish.

dinner at North Park SM Bicutan was a blast and good thing we got there just in time. Yummy taho squares and sweet and sour pork. I was surprised that I didn’t know the mall already closes at 9 when normally it would do at 10pm. 😦 At least I know that I’m not really a mall rat! LOL!

We tried out Annie’s Belgian Chocolates. Yummy collection of chocolates fior the sweet tooth! I love that place!

I tried to complete a layout tonight but couldn’t. I’m too lazy to do anything tonight.

And oh…It’s already morning! ‘Nuff said, my bed is calling me now!

I’m officially a FlyBaby

Just when I posted earlier that I am still the slack that I’ve always been, I re-read my friend’s blog and looked back at her post regarding the FlyLady. She’s the answer to my prayer!!!

The FlyLady will help you de-clutter your home and organize it – and forever maintain it and rub into your system that organization is the key to living a peaceful life in a wonderfully clean home and wherever and beyond. That’s how I see it. I have already subscribed and taken my first step. I’m starting with baby steps and hopefully by the end of the year, I will have a more organized home and a more organized life (dream on Yayaba!!! LOL!).

I’m scared but this is a challenge to myself. I don’t want to be called the CLUTTER QUEEN again by 2007.

Thanks Joy for introducing me to the wonderful world of the FlyLady!

I’m such a slack!

I haven’t finished backing up my hard drives yet and my mind is just so cluttered that I can’t think straight. This is just so old school me – such a slack and such a worrier.

I have to psyche myself to do things according to a plan for today and the days after. I’m behind in my kit assignments so I have to get my act straight.

If there’s anyone of you who can give me tips on how to turn me from an organized mess (that’s what I call myself even though I know those are 2 very opposite words) to a true-blue organization freak then I’ll be more than welcome to hear them out!

Just ranting…
