My workplace

I call myself an organized mess. I may have the messiest desk in the world but I know what my desk contains and where every little pin or paper is located. I know it’s not an admirable trait that’s why I envy office desks that are so organized and neat. I actually try and do my best to make everything organized and in perfect condition. After all, it’s still great to work on a desk that is not messy and full of unnecessary things.

In my attempt to clear stuff out of my desk, I have bought several organizers for me to help arrange things that are not supposed to be lying on my desk. It did help me in a way to get the bills and mail organized. The small thingies that abound my desk, I have placed in little desk organizers.

I just hope that I’ll be able to maintain this clean look of my desk from now on. I am aware that I know where my stuff are but it still pays to have a desk that’s clean to look at all the time.

Unique Undergarments

Being on the heavy side did not stop me from donning sexy and sometimes daring undergarments. I actually have a lingerie collection that I wear every so often when I feel like it. I’m quite particular with my undergarments because it plays a big role in making me feel comfortable throughout the day. It can also influence my mood so the things I have underneath my clothes should snuggly fit me so I won’t have to be cranky or irritated.

At this time and age where more daring undergarments are now gaining acceptability of usage, open tip bras have become more common and are being used a lot under sexy clothes for those wet and wild parties. They have been selling this stuff before but normally, you can just see them in catalogs or online stores for adults since they are mainly for those escapades you do in the confines of your bedroom.

Others may view this stuff as unacceptable but it does not really hurt to have and use this stuff once in a while. Owning or using one does not instantly turn you into a lesser being. Being sexy is all but an outlook and an attitude – and sometimes, we could use a thing or two to help us feel like one.

All About Blood

The American Red Cross is one of my favorite charities simply because I’m a blood donor myself. But aside from blood donation, the Red Cross assists and responds to disasters and emergencies whenever necessary. It also conducts training to help and educate people to prevent and prepare for such emergencies.

Although I still have to be a certified member of our local Red Cross, I am very much happy that I have become a blood donor because I know that my regular donation will help save a lot of lives, including mine. And in case you still don’t know it, regular blood donation has a lot of health benefits for our bodies in the long run, which include burning 650 calories for every pint of blood you donate. Neat isn’t it?

I find it great that there a lot of philanthropists willing to help charitable organizations like the Red Cross in their cause to make the lives of other people better. We become philanthropists too, in our own little way, with every blood donation that we give. Giving blood is a noble act. It is a very special gift that we can give to other people regardless of race, sex, religion from wherever in the world they may be.

A new mommy community

I used to be a member of a parenting community when I was still a SAHM. I actually miss those times because the community allowed me to meet a lot of parents who even became friends. However, due to a lot of things that happened to me in the previous months, I had to give up being part of the group.

Just recently, I came across a brand new community forum for mommies like me. The Pajama Mommy Community boasts of an open community for mommies to get together where they can share their stories, parenting tips and styles. It’s simply a community where moms can learn a lot from each other though members may be from different parts of the globe.

Learning and sharing our experiences about the joys and pains of motherhood can be done simply by joining the community. It is actually a great thing that the forum is open for conversations about various topics that relate to motherhood and parenting in general. The learning process is even made more fun because you can also join the newsletter to win prizes. You get the chance to win Baby Einstein stuff and other prizes which I really think is fun and cool and allows us to play in our way despite the hectic schedule we have as working or stay-at-home moms.

Check it out and hopefully we can all get together over there very soon!

Handling your assets

Businesses rely a lot on their fixed assets to keep their operations going. A building is needed to house the offices of the company. Machinery and plant equipment are essential to maintain operations; office furniture so that one can have a place to sit so he could do his job; and office equipment to keep records and maintain communications within and outside the company. There are so many fixed assets one can think of but managing them and making them work to our advantage is another.

Since the advent of computerized accounting systems, fixed asset accounting has become a breeze for most companies and even individuals who manage their own businesses. Unlike before when everything has to be done manually, it’s now easier and simpler to keep track of how the fixed assets are contributing in the growth of the business. Accountants will be able to pinpoint right away where these assets can be more useful and eventually provide more profit to the company.

But despite the technology, manpower and human decisions are still needed in order for the data to be processed and put into good use. Ultimately, the success of a business will require not just a complete and up-to-date accounting system but also the expertise and a keen sense of business acumen by the people using it to come up with business decisions that can make or break their operations. Striking a balance between the two would eventually be the key to succeed in whatever business one is running.

Racks on your car

I see quite a number of RVs and SUVs sporting accessories that can come in handy especially during long trips. It’s useful for a lot of things mainly to hold bulky things and for other handyman and do-it-yourself stuff.

I am dreaming of having my own Jeep Cherokee as my personal car. If and when that time comes, I can surely use a ladder rack on it when the need arises. For practical reasons, having a ladder can be handy especially if you are moving or if you are doing repairs for your home. You don’t need to hold and transport it in a truck. Your ladder can be easily accessible and you won’t have a hard time going to and from your basement or attic to get a one. Pretty cool stuff really! There are other useful automobile accessories you can use but this one is just exceptional.

Now, all I need to have is my dream SUV that can accommodate the accessory.

New Scraps

Finally, after 2 months of hibernating from the scrapping stuff that I used to do, I was able to complete 2 full pages for my CT work over at Nuts4Digi. I’ve been looking for my scrapping mojo for so long and I FINALLY found it (hopefully). I just missed scrapping and although I’ve got a lot of pictures to scrap, there didn’t seem to be enough time for me to do so – either I’m sick, my computer’s broken or there’s just no ideas coming out. I’m thankful for templates because they make my life easy. But of course, it would be great if I could do a lot more of the original stuff that I used to do. I m also looking at the newer styles coming out right now so I guess it won’t hurt to try something new in the future.

Hope you’ll have the time to visit my scrapping haven and leave me a little lovin’ over there 🙂

Hero’s Run

I would like to invite you to join Abbie in her cause to build homes for homeless families here in the Philippines through Gawad Kalinga. Abbie has been doing this for 3 years and I would like to encourage all of you to donate for this cause.

I don’t know Abbie personally. The only connection I have with her is her SIL, Joy. But I really, really admire her for doing such a generous and selfless act for our less fortunate brothers and sisters. I have read stories of her generosity and kindness through Joy’s blog and there’s no doubt that she’s a great person with one BIG heart!

On child insurance

At this point in time where pre-need plans have become a necessity rather than a luxury, I am actually thinking of getting a child insurance plan for DS that is as affordable as buying milk in the grocery.

For others, having insurance is just another cut in the yearly family budget. But just like any other service, all we need to do is weigh the pros and cons of getting one. Based on my experience, insurance helps a lot in terms of preparing for unexpected circumstances adn to prepare for a future that can be uncertain. It helps to have peace of mind especially when it comes to matters about my son or any family member for that matter.

I’m just glad that I have a lot of choices. All I need to do is scrutinize them one by one and get the best deal I could have to secure my son’s future.

Thursday Thirteen Week 34

This week has been kinda slow for me. The blues have caught me so I feel kinda down and low. I haven’t really thought much about a good topic for this week’s edition. So I just settled to share with you thirteen of my favorite quotes from Erma Bombeck. She does make a lot of sense and I just love the truth in her humor. God bless her soul!

01. A friend doesn’t go on a diet because you’re fat.

02. Children make your life important.

03. Guilt: the gift that keeps on giving.

04. If you can’t make it better, you can laugh at it.

05. It is not until you become a mother that your judgment slowly turns to compassion and understanding.

06. Never accept a drink from a urologist.

07. The art of never making a mistake is crucial to motherhood. To be effective and to gain the respect she needs to function, a other must have her children believe she has never engaged in sex, never made a bad decision, never caused her own mother a moment’s anxiety, and was never a child.

08. There is a thin line that separates laughter and pain, comedy and tragedy, humor and hurt.

09. Youngsters of the age of two and three are endowed with extraordinary strength. They can lift a dog twice their own weight and dump him into the bathtub.

10. All of us have moments in out lives that test our courage. Taking children into a house with a white carpet is one of them.

11. Before you try to keep up with the Joneses, be sure they’re not trying to keep up with you.

12. Did you ever notice that the first piece of luggage on the carousel never belongs to anyone?

13. Dreams have only one owner at a time. That’s why dreamers are lonely.

Happy Thursday!
