Change is something I welcome but it doesn’t come easy speaking from experience.

I have mentioned in one Plurk update that I will need to fine tune some things in my life. That includes changing some patterns that I have set for myself and tweaking force of habits that I have learned to live with the past couple of weeks. It’s not going to be easy but I know I need to do it for certain valid reasons.

I started with the fine tuning today and it wasn’t easy! You know that scene in cartoons or movies where there’s the angel and the devil telling you what to do and what not to do? I had that flashing in my mind the whole day today. It was a weird feeling that I had to entertain for a moment if only to keep me grounded.

But I guess just like old habits that are hard to break, this one needs to be constantly practiced so it will in turn become my new habit. The fine tuning and the changes in my so-called habits were mutually agreed upon so I have no reason not to keep my part of the bargain.

Because at the end of the day, I know that this will be all worth it!

Sunday Stealing: The Tell Me About Yourself Meme

Today we ripped this meme off a blogger named Vicki at the blog Fleurette. She states that she found it at Deborah’s Devil’s Sidekick blog. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft’s thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

The Gift

It’s always great to come home and find something waiting for me to open. This time it’s not an envelope containing bills but a box with great goodies.

My best friend is just the sweetest. She knows how much I love bags. And she just chose another perfect one for me.

She also sent Basti a gift – and he’s looking forward to use it real soon.

Pam, thanks so much for always remembering and for always being there for me no matter what. After all these years, we’ve just proven that a true kind of friendship can survive even though we’re thousands of miles away from each other.

Weekly Wrap-Up: Thrill Seeking

In the past week, have you tried something new?
** We wanted to try out this restaurant called The Stock Market located at Bonifacio High Street. Apparently, it’s too pricey to get a decent meal from them so we decided to go to Brothers Burgers for dinner and then just headed back to the Ice Cream Bar for our desserts. The desserts were still pricey by normal standards but I would pay that price for such a yummy treat. Yogurt has the reputation of being sour but this one’s truly yummy and to die for if I may say so. I chose yogurt over ice cream because I’ve had too many sweet treats for the past week already. Besides, yogurt is a good digestion and colon cleanse aid for those who want to detox. I made the right decision. The frozen yogurt treat was indeed yummy!

Was it a big decision or one easily made?
** It wasn’t really hard to decide because we were all starving and craving.

How did it turn out?
** I think it turned out perfectly fine. Check out our photos 😉

Have a great Saturday!

Friday Fill-Ins

1. Wait! Wait, don’t forget that I’m still human no matter what.

2. Take a deep breath followed at once by a sigh of relief.

3. The trouble is you’re there and I’m here.

4. Distance equals many miles away. Can I just ask any of those cross country moving companies to bring you to me? LOL!

5. With a faint pop and then it was broken.

6. Sometimes my thoughts tend to be shadowy and ominous.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to search for that perfect pair of boots, tomorrow my plans include a coffee date with friends and probably more shoe searching and Sunday, I want to rest and update my online stuff!

Thursday Thirteen: Things and People I Am Grateful For

Our American friends are celebrating Thanksgiving today. I will be going on a long weekend starting tonight since our company celebrates Thanksgiving and gives us the Friday holiday off (we’re ahead by 13 hours EST).

So, here goes my list of the things/people I’m grateful for:

01. My life may be full of not-so-pretty things but I’m still alive and every single day given to me is a blessing.

02. The love of my life, the center of my universe, my one and only son – Basti. Whatever Mommy’s doing, she’s doing it all for you. Someday you’ll be able to understand the things that seem to confuse you and you’ll be able to grasp the logic behind everything that’s happening.

03. I am truly grateful to have a group of friends who support and listen to me no matter how much I whine and rant. They never get tired of giving me emotional support and they never cease to love me for who I am and who I’m not.

04. I’m thankful for technology because it makes it easier for me to communicate to those who are far away from me.

05. I’m thankful to have a father who never fails to be my source of strength, inspiration and guidance. And despite his constant complaints about my financial state, he’s still there for me, always ready to lend me a hand.

06. It regularly breaks down now but it’s still my most reliable means of transportation going to and from work. It protects me from the rains and the heat of the sun. It spares me the trouble of going up and down the stairs of the MRT and the countless of hours I need to wait for the ride home. Thanks Victoria, my car for being my most reliable companion on the road.

07. I’m thankful for mobile phones and free directory services that I get to use for those moments when I get lost on the road.

08. I don’t get along with her that much but she’s still my Mom no matter what. I wouldn’t be alive if not for her. I owe her my life and for that I’ll always be grateful to her ’til the day I die.

09. More than 8 years ago, I met this lady who eventually became my best friend. She’s thousands of miles away from but she’s always been there for me through thick and thin. If there’s a trophy best friend I can boast of, it’s definitely going to be Pam.

10. I’m thankful for Cybie and Sly – they have always been there to capture precious moments and I have tons of them.

11. I am grateful to have my Ipanema flip-flops that never fail to provide comfort for my feet whenever I’m at home or when I’m driving to and from work.

12. You came into my life unexpectedly and my life has never been the same again. For something that I thought never existed, you made it all a reality for me.

13. Last but not the least, I am thankful to God who never fails to take care and look after me even though I sometimes forget Him.

Happy Thursday and Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US.

Trimming down the Christmas list

The list has grown over the years and I’ve been thinking…

Do I need to trim down my Christmas list?

A big chunk of my Christmas money goes to holiday gifts. I love to give gifts. Receiving would just be a bonus. I have been thinking of removing some people on my list primarily due to circumstances that have changed over time and I guess most of you already know the reason why.

While others are looking at adding more people on their list, why would I trim down mine? Although the ties have not been formally broken yet, would it still be appropriate to send gifts to them?

I know this isn’t really something to struggle about but it does bug me every now and then. I’d like to know your opinion on this. It would probably help me sort things out in the end for a merrier Christmas.

One month and counting

A month ago, I decided to break my very intimate love affair with rice. This is the longest I’ve gone without rice in my diet.

I’ve had very bad cravings for rice especially when sumptuous viands for lunch or dinner have been prepared. Who wouldn’t want hot cooked rice with Pork Sinigang or adobo? There have been countless of times that I could have just given in on the craving but I’m just glad that I have gone to be more resistant to the temptation.

I’m truly glad about this decision. This morning, I’m surprised to see 5 pounds less off my weight. I guess that’s a good start, don’t you think?
