Saturday 9: Wouldn’t It Be Nice

1. What’s the nicest thing a complete stranger ever did for you?
** Just yesterday, somebody helped me jump start my car that wouldn’t start.

2. What one thing always speaks deeply to you, to your spirit, no matter your mood or what else is going on in your life?
** God is in control of everything. No matter how much hurt and pain you go through, God will always show you not just mere exit signs to the solutions to your problems but He will always be there to comfort you when you need it the most.

3. How many jobs have you held in your life? How many of those were part of your chosen career field?
** Around 5…unfortunately, just 1.

4. Of those jobs, how many did you leave voluntarily?
** 4 of them.

5. How did you discover Saturday 9? How long have you played? (Thank you for joining in!)
** I discovered it last year while participating in Sunday Stealing

6. What’s the worst beverage you’ve ever tasted?
** There’s this bottled tea. I really couldn’t drink it.

7. Is there anything in life you are “certain” about? Firm in your beliefs? Strong in your convictions?
** That traitors have no place in this world.

8. How did you come up with the title of your blog’s posts?
** Randomly. It really depends on what I write about. It usually just comes.

9. Would you consider yourself a good cook?
** I’d like to think so.

Saturday 9: Closer to Home

1. Where did you grow up? Where do you consider home?
** Grew up in one of the biggest cities in Manila. But I consider my current address as my real home…for now.

2. If you could paint your car any color with no loss in value, what color would it be?
** I’d still paint it with the original color. It’s unique and I like it.

3. What do you think comes after death?
** Eternal life with the Lord.

4. Name a TV show that should NOT be renewed for another season.
** Can’t think of any at the moment.

5. If you could have a free subscription to any online service, which would you like to have?
** NetFlix probably.

6. Where did you think you’d be at the age you are now?
** Settled elsewhere.

7. What did you want to be when you grew up?
** Lawyer.

8. If you were to suddenly become famous, and were forced to change names, what would you choose as your stage name?
** I wouldn’t go that far. I love my name.

9. What is the first book that you can remember reading by yourself as a child?
** Little Match Girl in those hard bound pages.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Saturday 9: Reason to Believe

1. Has anyone asked you to believe in something that called for a huge leap of faith on your part?
** Yes.

2. When is the last time you moved? Why did you move?
** I moved last September. It was a domestic issue between my Mom and I and my Mom and Dad. I rarely see her and yet when she comes over, she wreaks havoc into our lives.

3. Malls? ..or one Internet? Are you doing more online shopping this year? The polls say we are, but I’m curious about what the real people are doing.
** I now prefer the convenience of online shopping. But how I wish there are more local stores offering that out here. If you wanna shop here, going to the mall is still the best way to meet your retail therapy needs.

4. Do you remember the first meme you participated in and if so, what was it?
** I think it was Thursday Thirteen. I still participate every so often.

5. If you could invent something, what would it be?
** I’d really like to go back in time so a time machine would be nice.

6. Are you finished with your shopping? Do you still a few things to go? What? Not even a game plan? …or is there just one person you’re having trouble finding something for?
** No and I guess I’ll do it the last minute, as always. My Dad is always a puzzle for me when it comes to gifting because I don’t know what else he doesn’t have. I know it’s not something tangible and that’s quite hard to give to him.

7. What’s left to do at your place (or where you are going)? Is the tree up? …or maybe you’re just happy you found the Christmas coffee mug and are calling that good?
** I still need living room necessities and some more appliances. That can wait though. And I don’t have a tree up this year.

8. Is your life turning out the way you thought it would when you were a kid? If not, is it better or worse?
** All I know is that it’s still way better than before.

9. Tell us about something you’ll miss about 2010.
** Nothing really. I’m so looking forward to 2011.

Saturday 9: Dark Lady

1. Have you ever been to a fortune teller? If yes, what happened?
** I’ve been told of interesting things and thoughts. It’s nice to know some things but that’s all there is to that.

2. How do you cope in an uncomfortable social situation?
** I do my best to look comfortable and just think of a way to get out of the situation.

3. A genie appears (of course). She asks, “If you had 3 wishes but each took 3 years off your life, what would you wish for and why?”
** (1) Give DS and my family a financially-secured future; (2) That my parents will live longer lives; and (3) find a life partner whom I’ll be truly happy with – one who will love and care for me and DS unconditionally.

4. Would you rather lose your soul mate or never meet them at all?
** I don’t think I’d like to meet my soul mate.

5. What is the hardest thing that you have ever had to do?
** Give up some things like my own happiness so that other people would be happy.

6. Have you ever had a miracle happen to you or your loved ones?
** Yes. God is good, indeed.

7. Tell us about a quote that you can relate to. Why can you relate with it?:
** This was a quote from Marilyn Monroe and have placed this on my Facebook account: “Everything happens for a reason, people change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so you can appreciate them when they’re right, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can come together.” This is just so true about life. And I came across this quote during the time that I was so pre-occupied with a lot of troubling things.

8. What personality trait has gotten you into the most trouble?
** I’m too trusting.

9. For those in The States, how was your Turkey Day? If not from the US, do you celebrate a day like Thanksgiving?
** It’s just basically Christmas for us.

Enjoy the weekend!

Saturday 9: Happy Turkey Day 2010

We do not celebrate Thanksgiving over here as we’re not Americans (obviously). But I’ll try to answer the best way I can the questions that I can answer.

1. Tell us about you very favorite (yes we know that’s redundant) Thanksgiving.
** No answer for this one.

2. What are you doing for Turkey Day this year?
** Since I work for an American company, Turkey Day used to be a holiday for us but since last year, it is not anymore. So I’ll be at work.

3. If you were to go to somebody else’s house, what would be your favorite dish to bring?
** I’ll probably bring a cake or pie, like Pumpkin Pie.

4. Tell us about the funniest person that you’ll be with this Thanksgiving.
** If ever, that would be my youngest sister, Kimberly. She never fails to make us laugh with the craziest, darnest and sometimes the dumbest things that she says.

5. What would surprise us to know about your Thanksgivings?
** That we do not have Thanksgiving here?

6. Does your usual mix of guests result in drama, or is it a group you’re happy to see?
** It will probably be a mixture of both.

7. What did your family do for Thanksgiving when you were a kid? Do you still do it?
** Not applicable to me.

8. We know you’ve been asked this probably 15 times this week. But share with us in 2010, what are you most thankful for?
** I’m most thankful for the family and friends who have always been there for me. I’m also thankful to my doctors who have been taking care and looking after me since I got sick. And I probably need to thank my being sick for making me realize that going back to smoking after 3 years of quitting is definitely not a good thing to do after all.

9. Okay, the big question: are you going to ‘attend’ any of the “Black Friday” sales? …and if you are, are you hard core serious like the 5 am “be there” crowd?
** If I was there, I’ll probably be there since it’s gonna be my first time. I just would like to get a feel of it.

Enjoy your Saturday and advance Happy Thanksgiving to my American blogging (and non-blogging) friends!

Saturday 9: Just What I Needed

1. Who was the last person who entered your life and was just what you needed?
** Maybe the person knows, maybe not. But still I’m thankful.

2. What is one of your fondest childhood memories?
** My father would always tell this anecdote about how I “stole” tomatoes from the fresh market when I was 2 and they would catch me eating it right away because I love tomatoes.

3. What would you like to be doing in 7 years?
** Probably still working to provide a better and secure life for DS.

4. Tell us about a blogging pet peeve.
** When I would like to write but I’m stumped because I can’t think straight.

5. Tell us about a general pet peeve.
** People who would smile and say good things about you when you’re in front of them but they hate you deep inside and they bad mouth you when you’re not around.

6. For one day, who would you like to trade places with?
** I’d probably like to trade places with Barack Obama. So many things to do, so little time and yet he seems so composed and calm. I wonder how he does that.

7. Where is your least favorite place to be?
** The mall. It’s too crowded for me.

8. What do you like about fall?
** The colors, foliage and the weather.

9. If you or someone you know are chronically late, do you believe it’s the result of poor planning or choosing to be late?
** Probably it’s just choosing to be late and force of habit.

Have a great Saturday!

Saturday 9: Elected

1. Many of my friends have commented they cannot discuss politics with co-workers, family, friends and others without conflict rearing its ugly head. Do you feel you can talk with your family and friends about this particularly divisive election?
** Yeah, I think I can.

2. Do you know who you’re voting for in next week’s election? How did you decide?
** Our next one will be in 3 years so that hasn’t really crossed my mind.

3. What do you think is the most important issue in next Tuesday’s election?
** I’m not in the loop so I’m begging off this question.

4. Can you go a day without laughing?
** No. I need a good laugh at least once a day.

5. Do you think that you can chose who you want to love?
** Yes. But more often than not, it just happens.

6. Have you ever been on stage? For what?
** I got awards and performed (sang).

7. Would you ever live in a different country? If yes, where?
** Yes. I’ve got my eyes set on Canada or Australia.

8. Any plans for Halloween?
** None. I’m stuck at the hospital.

9. The last costume that you wore, what was it and why did you choose it?
** If you consider an office Halloween event as one for the costumes, then I came in as a goth lady because the theme was Goth-inspired. That was like last year I think.
